Q + A
Why did the venue change?
A combination of a leaky ceiling, lawn drainage issues, and a lack of upkeep resulted in the determination that Bolingbroke Mansion was no longer usable as a wedding venue.
We are so excited that Rosemont College's Rathalla was available and able to accommodate our wedding! Rathalla is a beautiful National Register-listed Chateauesque Main Line mansion built ca. 1890 for Irish whiskey distiller Joseph Sinnott. "Rathalla" is gaelic for "home of the chieftain on the highest hill." The estate was eventually sold to the Sisters of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus and later established as Rosemont College. When we explored the campus as a possible wedding venue, we immediately fell in love with its character, historic charm, and beautiful green space. Sometimes, Plan B is even better than Plan A!
Do I need to change my plans now that the reception venue has changed?
No! Rosemont is only a few miles from our previous venue, from the Marriott in Conshohocken, and from St. John Vianney. If you plan to take advantage of the shuttle between the Marriott and the reception, your plans will not change. If you will be driving to the reception, please note the new address and see the "Hotels and Transportation" page for parking details.
Will the wedding events be indoors or outdoors?
Weather permitting, most of our events will be held partially outdoors. Our Welcome Party will be held on a covered outdoor patio.
The Wedding Ceremony will be indoors, and the Reception will be primarily in a tent with open sides, with the option to spend time in the historic mansion.
The Farewell Brunch will be held at the Livesey Home with seating both indoors and outdoors.
Will transportation be provided throughout the wedding weekend?
A shuttle will operate between the Marriott Hotel in Conshohocken and Rosemont at the start and end of the reception. For more details on this service, please see "Hotels and Transportation." We request that our guests plan their own transportation for all other events, including the wedding ceremony.
Will there be a post-reception afterparty?
For guests who wish to keep the party going after the reception has ended, we recommend congregating at the Great American Pub rooftop in Conshohocken, which is a 15 minute walk from the Marriott and will be open until about 1:00AM.
What will the weather be like?
In late September, the temperature in Philadelphia is typically in the mid-50s to mid-70s.
What should I wear to the wedding?
Th dress code for our wedding is black tie optional! We ask that men wear a tuxedo or suit and tie and women wear an evening gown or midi or knee length cocktail dress. Given that our reception will be primarily outdoors, we recommend that women bring a sweater or wrap for warmth. The reception will be held partially on grass, so we recommend keeping this in mind when selecting footwear.
Can I bring a guest?
Due to venue limitations, we can only accommodate those addressed on the invitations. Thank you for your understanding!
